On Friday, September 22, 2023, the INNOFARM route will be inaugurated: a journey from farm to table to explore sustainability and innovation in the world of agriculture.
The INNOFARM tour is designed to take visitors on a fascinating journey to discover sustainability and innovation in the agricultural sector.
This initiative, promoted by the Department of Agronomy, Animal Science, Food, Natural resources, and Environment (DAFNAE) and the Experimental Farm of the University of Padova, and funded by the University of Padova, aims to raise public awareness about the importance of sustainable agriculture and innovative practices that can make agriculture more resilient and environmentally friendly in food production.
The journey, which consider 9 thematic areas, offers visitors the opportunity to engage directly with various aspects of modern agriculture. From planting and cultivating crops to harvesting and processing agricultural products, InnoFarm covers all facets of this crucial sector.
During the journey, visitors will have the chance to interact with researchers from the DAFNAE Department, gaining insights into the challenges and opportunities faced by agriculture in the context of the current climate crisis and the need for more sustainable practices.
One of the highlights of the route includes practical workshops where participants can observe some of the most innovative agricultural techniques, such as soilless farming and the use of technologies to reduce the use of plant protection products and fertilizers. Additionally, visitors can get to know the world of pollinating insects, with a particular focus on bees, hive products, and their vital ecological role.
